Why Every Event Is a Chance to Grow.
I recently attended an event to gather content for a client’s social media. I've said it before and I’ll say it again, this is one of my favorite things to do. One of the best parts of this job is getting access to events I wouldn’t normally be part of, it constantly opens doors to new experiences and perspectives.
As I moved through the event, camera in hand, I couldn’t help but feel grateful. These moments, being out and about, meeting new people, capturing stories, are the ones that make the freelance grind feel incredibly worthwhile.
Even though I was there to do a job, networking tends to happen naturally. Conversations often start with questions like, “Do you do this full-time?” or “So, what exactly is it that you do?” And just like that, connections form.
There's a real sense of pride that comes with handing someone my business card or directing them to my website. It’s a simple gesture, but it represents the hard work, growth, and confidence I've built in such a short space of time.
For sole traders like myself, networking isn’t just a bonus, it’s vital. Working alone can be isolating, but getting out there, talking about what you do, and hearing how others respond can reignite your motivation. It forces you to reflect on your journey and realize just how far you’ve come.
At the end of the day, these events are about more than just collecting content, they’re about community & connection.
